In the UK on average pupils usually take between 30 and 50 hours to learn to drive, plus a few hours private practice if you can get it. How many lessons you need will depend upon your motivation and aptitude for driving. There are no short cuts, it takes time and commitment but the rewards are well worth the effort. What is the best way to learn to drive? The best way to learn to drive is to take regular lessons spread over a few weeks on a semi-intensive basis (depending on your schedule). Pupils using the "one-hour-a-week" approach often take many months to learn to drive. While this helps to spread out the cost you do end up paying more in the long run. This is because you often forget what you have learnt from one week to the next. You end up taking two steps forward and one step back. Consequently, you take more lessons to pass the test. What do I get for my money? All lessons are one-to-one, you'll never have to share a lesson - it's just me and you, you'll get a full hour (often more) and are door-to-door, if it helps I can pick you up from college or work. PASS PLUS , is a minimum six hours extra training; if we use my car the cost is £120, your car and it's only £100 (my own son reduced his insurance premium by over £500!) but if more hours are needed then it’s £20 per hour.
